We Are Called to Pray

As a church, we deeply believe in the importance and power of prayer. We are called to lift one another up and to pray for people both locally and around the world.

Visit the link above to view weekly and monthly prayer updates and praises from across the globe. Let’s join together consistently in prayer—
for fellow believers, and for those who have yet to encounter Jesus.

Your prayers matter. Let’s stand together in faith.

A.B Simpson, the founder of the Christian & Missionary Alliance believed that prayer is the primary work of God’s people, and that nothing of lasting value can be done unless it is bathed in prayer.

Philippians 4:6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God

Thessalonians 5:16-18 - Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

“Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.” ~Philippians 1:12-14

1. Paul’s perspective allowed him to see an opportunity, not just a prison.

2. He understood his purpose: to bring praise and glory to God and continue the ministry of Jesus.

3. Worship isn’t just something we do, it should define who we are.

4. Paul’s situation and his response inspired others to live boldly for Christ.

5. He knew his strength and approach depended on prayer and the Spirit of Christ.

Philippians 1:1–11 focuses on the power and importance of praying for one another. Paul reminds us that we are all partners in the Gospel, sharers of God’s grace, and each of us is still in process. With that in mind, our prayers for one another should reflect grace, love, and a desire for each other to grow in faith. We want to be a people who: grow in love, bear spiritual fruit, and bring glory and praise to God through our lives. And one way we build unity is by truly committing to pray for one another.

We are seeking to increase our focus on prayer as a church. If you call Encounter Church your home church, please know that I am praying for each of you, and I’d love to pray more specifically when you share your needs.

You can send prayer requests to me by email anytime. If you'd prefer, there will be notecards, pens, and a prayer basket available at the front of the church. Please send two types of prayer requests. Any request(s) that you want me to be praying for you and any request(s) that you want the body to be praying for you.

  • If your request is personal and for me only, just note that on the card - or in the email.

  • If your request can be shared with the church, please label it accordingly so we can invite the body to join in prayer with you.

Blessings,

Pastor Mark
