Kingdom representatives are what we are called to be.
To be a disciple of Jesus is to lay down your life, take up your cross, and follow Jesus. The most visible evidence of following Jesus is the sacrificial love of our neighbors. The church does not exist for us. We are the church and we exist for the glory of God and the benefit of the world. We exist to be kingdom representatives in our places and spheres of influence. We will lead the way in Athens with irrational generosity. We truly believe it is more blessed to give than to receive.
We don’t want to recruit volunteers or have rooms full of consumers; we desire to develop and release kingdom representatives. Volunteers do good things but kingdom representatives change the world. Kingdom representation in the church is always defined in terms of service and sacrifice and willingness; it takes the initiative for the benefit of others. We will develop kingdom representatives and let them change their places of influence. It will mean that we will make more mistakes. But it also means we will have a far greater impact.
